Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense Andrey Kartapolov visited as an observer a joint exercise with the Collective Rapid Reaction Forces of the CSTO "Interaction-2021" in the Republic of Tajikistan for the purpose of parliamentary monitoring of the military-political situation in the Central Asian region.
During the visit, representatives of the Coordination Meeting of the Chairmen of the Committees (commissions) on Defense and Security of the parliaments of the CSTO states under the Council of the CSTO PA met with the leadership of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan. The parliamentarians also got acquainted with the equipment and weapons of the personnel of the Collective Rapid Reaction Forces of the CSTO.
Recall that the joint operational and strategic exercises of the CSTO "Combat Brotherhood-2021" were held at the training ground of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan "Harbmaydon". The servicemen of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan practiced joint actions to repel the attack of conditional terrorists. Three exercises are conducted simultaneously, in difficult conditions of mountainous and desert terrain and in a single operational environment.
The main objectives of the exercises were to improve the command and control system of Troops (Collective Forces) CSTO.
The military contingents of the Organization's Member States, consisting of mobile formations and military units of constant readiness equipped with modern weapons and military (special) equipment, took part in the exercises. A total of 4,000 people and more than 500 pieces of equipment, including L-39, Su-25, Su-24MR, Il-76TD, Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters.
Kartapolov noted that "the past exercises demonstrated a high level of interaction between the military contingents of the CSTO member states, the coherence of management bodies and units, the achievement of interoperability of forces and means, and also showed the world the unity of views of the CSTO member states on existing challenges and threats. The exercises were held at a high professional level and contributed to the strengthening of the combat community."
