Moscow. October 25. INTERFAX - Russia plans to launch a Space Monitoring System (SCCP) into space, the development of an appropriate satellite constellation is underway, the general designer of the SCCP (IAC Vimpel Corporation, Almaz-Antey Concern JSC) said in an interview with Interfax Vitaly Goryuchkin.
"We need some ways to take surveillance equipment out of the Russian Federation. Let's say some agreements with friendly countries. One of the ways out of this situation is the development of space controls for outer space," he said.
"We have such plans, work is underway to create such a system. But in fact, the space grouping is a very expensive tool and very difficult," said the chief designer of the SKKP.
According to him, this grouping will allow for increased accuracy of information collection for monitoring small objects in orbit.
"There are preliminary estimates of the number (of small objects, - "IF") depending on the size: more than 5 cm - more than 100 thousand space objects, more than a million space objects measuring about 1 cm," said Goryuchkin.
