Dubai. October 25. INTERFAX - The Afghan Foreign Ministry welcomes the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin about the possible exclusion of the Taliban movement (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation) from the list of terrorist organizations.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan welcomes the remarks of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin regarding the exclusion of the names of the leaders of the Emirate from the blacklist," Abdul Kahar Balkhi, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, wrote on Twitter.
During the plenary session of the Valdai discussion club, Putin admitted the possibility of excluding the Taliban from the list of terrorist organizations.
However, he noted, the UN Security Council should do this first of all.
"The fact is that these decisions were made at the UN level," Putin said.
He noted that now everything depends on whether the situation in Afghanistan will develop in a positive way.
"Depending on this, we are in solidarity and will make a decision to exclude from the list of terrorist organizations. It seems to me that we are approaching this," the president said.
