According to the head of the Defense Ministry, the alliance is not ready for an equal dialogue
MOSCOW, October 23. /tass/. NATO is consistently pulling forces to the borders of the Russian Federation amid calls for military deterrence of Russia. This was stated by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu in response to a statement by German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer.
"Against the background of calls for military deterrence of Russia, NATO is consistently pulling forces to our borders. The German Defense Minister must know well how this has already ended for Germany and Europe. Security in Europe can only be shared, without prejudice to Russia's interests. But it is NATO that is not ready for an equal dialogue on this issue today," Shoigu said.
He called the results of the implementation of the NATO plan for "containment" in Afghanistan a disaster. "Moreover, the implementation of the NATO "deterrence" plan in Afghanistan ended in a catastrophe, which the whole world is now dealing with," the minister said.
On October 21, the German Defense Minister, on the air of the Deutschlandfunk radio station, answering the question of whether NATO is thinking about scenarios for deterring Russia for the Baltic and Black Sea regions, including in the airspace with nuclear weapons, said that NATO needs to make it clear to Russia that the alliance is ready to use such means so that it has an early deterrent effect and no one would think of attacking, for example, the Baltic regions or NATO partners in the Black Sea. Kramp-Karrenbauer stressed that this is the main idea of NATO, it will be adapted to the current behavior of Russia.
