Kiev. October 23. INTERFAX-UKRAINE - The third batch of additional international military aid worth $60 million from the US government for the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has arrived in Ukraine.
It includes ammunition, anti-tank and precision weapons, medical equipment and others, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported on Friday.
"Today we have received another board of assistance from the United States as a result of agreements between the Presidents of Ukraine and the United States, Vladimir Zelensky and Joe Biden. This is a sincere, open, ambulance for our military, on the front line they will be able to use these means of medical and combat support," said Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Alexander Nosov, quoted by the press service of the department.
The Attache for Army and Defense Affairs of the US Embassy in Ukraine, Colonel Brittany Stewart, for her part, noted that "the United States of America is helping Ukraine in the development of the Armed Forces, which includes logistical assistance and training from the tactical to the strategic level." She also added that Washington wants to see Ukraine on the way to NATO, "a peaceful and free country."
The Head of the Main Logistics Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykola Shevtsov, stressed that the military-technical assistance received includes high-tech and severely deficient equipment and weapons, as well as ammunition needed on the front line. According to him, the funds received in previous shipments are already increasing our capabilities of counter-battery and anti-tank warfare, as well as intelligence.
"Today we received a batch of Javelin anti-tank missile systems with ammunition. We also received ammunition for the weapons that we have under the "NATO calibers". The weapons will be moved to bases and warehouses, accounted for and handed over to military personnel for use, including for units of the Joint Forces Operation," Shevtsov said.
The commander of the AFU Medical Unit, Brigadier General Tatiana Ostashchenko, added that the cargo from the United States also includes personal protective equipment - first aid kits. She separately stressed that military medical training in the Armed Forces of Ukraine is carried out in accordance with NATO standards.
