INTERFAX - The United States is ready to participate in negotiations in the format of the "extended troika" on the situation in Afghanistan in the future, and could not participate in recent consultations in Moscow due to logistical difficulties, White House press Secretary Jen Psaki said on Friday.
"The United States supports these negotiations. We could not take part in them for reasons related to logistics," Psaki said during a briefing.
According to her, Washington considers effective and constructive negotiations in the format of the "expanded troika" - with the participation of the United States, Russia, China and Pakistan.
"We are not in a position to take part in them this week, but we will participate in the future," the White House spokeswoman said.
Earlier this week, a similar statement was made by the representative of the US State Department, Ned Price. He said that Washington's representatives would not take part in the Moscow-format meeting on Afghanistan due to logistical difficulties. At the same time, the representative of the State Department noted that the United States is ready to participate in such a forum in the future.
