The Minister of the Armed Forces of France, Florence Parly, presented a new military doctrine of the fight against information influence (document L2I).
Excerpts of the speech, which took place in the main building of the military department in the south of Paris, are posted on the Minister's page.
"The information space has become a place of strategic rivalry. We will not be able to effectively protect the French if we are unable to fight in the information sphere," she stressed.
"False, manipulated, highly dissected information is a weapon. This is not only a tool that has allowed some terrorist groups to significantly strengthen their positions, some of our strategic rivals are using it, achieving more and more significant results," Parli said.
According to her, "military operations are no longer conducted in isolation from social networks, since what happens in them has a real impact on these operations." In this regard, she mentioned propaganda campaigns based on information manipulation, which are carried out with the aim of undermining the legitimacy of the actions of the French Armed Forces in various countries.
According to her, terrorist organizations use similar methods to recruit and expand their influence in the world, TASS says.
