The memorandum provides for the expansion of cooperation between the two countries in scientific research, the exchange of experience and the development of educational programs in space exploration
CAIRO, October 20. /tass/. The United Arab Emirates Space Agency (UAE) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Israeli Space Agency in order to expand bilateral cooperation. As the UAE News Agency reported on Wednesday, the document was signed on the sidelines of the Expo 2020 World Exhibition in Dubai.
The memorandum, the agency notes, involves the expansion of cooperation between the two countries in scientific research, exchange of experience and the development of educational programs in space exploration. The UAE will participate in the preparations for the launch of the Israeli Bereshit-2 space station to the Moon, which is scheduled for 2024. Israel will implement joint research programs at universities, including the study of the so-called red tides (a phenomenon caused by algae blooms) and invasions of red palm weevils that threaten date plantations. The data collected using the microsatellite will be transferred to the UAE.
