The US Navy military base in Maryland near Washington is closed due to a bomb threat. This is stated in a message from the US military posted on Twitter on Wednesday, October 20.
"At about 8:45 (15:45 Moscow time. - Ed.) the base received a phone call from an anonymous source who claimed that a bomb was planted in or near Building No. 10. The base is closed," the statement reads.
It is emphasized that all military personnel are obliged to stay indoors, citizens are asked to avoid nearby territories.
In August, an unknown armed man made his way to the territory of an American military base near Washington, because of which an alarm was announced. The command of the military facility called on the personnel to run or hide in case of detection of a man with a weapon. Later, the attacker was detained and handed over to law enforcement officers to find out the motives.
In June, a shooting occurred at a US Air Force base in Texas. All personnel were ordered to take immediate measures for a complete lockdown. No injuries were reported.
