MOSCOW, Oct 20 - RIA Novosti. The plan of Russian-Belarusian military cooperation for the next year contains 139 measures aimed at strengthening the security of the Union State, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.
"We have approved a plan for bilateral military cooperation for 2022, which includes 139 events in various areas of joint activity of the defense departments," Shoigu said, summing up the results of the joint board of the defense ministries of the two countries held on Wednesday.
According to him, the decisions adopted at the meeting "are aimed at developing cooperation between our defense departments and will contribute to strengthening the military security of the Union State." "Priority attention is paid to the regional grouping of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, as well as the development of joint military systems," Shoigu said.
He called operational and combat training an important area of bilateral cooperation. "This year it culminated in the joint strategic exercise "West-2021", in which the military contingents of seven states participated. The armed forces of the five countries were represented by observers. The results of this large-scale event confirmed the readiness and ability of our armed forces to effectively solve the tasks of ensuring the military security of the Union State," the Russian Defense Minister said.
