MOSCOW, October 20. /tass/. The joint exercises of the Russian Federation and Belarus "Shield of the Union" will be a key event in 2023, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said, summing up the results of the joint board of the military departments of the two countries held on Wednesday.
"The results of the joint activities of our defense departments from 2019 to 2021 have been summed up and approved, measures are planned to ensure military security until 2024, and the corresponding plan has been approved. The most ambitious event envisaged by this document will be the joint exercise "Shield of the Union", which we will hold in 2023," Shoigu said.
According to him, in order to develop cooperation in the field of flight safety, the State Aviation Authority will prepare proposals to improve the procedure for exchanging information about dangerous factors and aviation events with aircraft.
"We continued to develop cooperation in the fields of radiation, chemical and biological protection, electronic warfare, as well as topogeodetic and navigation support. Measures have been planned to work out joint actions and improve existing mechanisms of interaction in these areas," Shoigu said.
He said that the board summed up the results of the work done since 2018 to improve military infrastructure facilities planned for joint use in the interests of providing a regional grouping of troops. The program of the Union State until 2026 will be developed in the interests of ensuring the regional grouping of troops of Russia and Belarus. "We agreed to continue it, for which we will develop an appropriate program of the Union State for the period up to 2026," Shoigu said.
Joint work continues to counter attempts to falsify the causes, results and legacy of the Second World War and Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the minister said.
