Artificial intelligence can be used to monitor networks
Moscow. October 20. INTERFAX - Experts of the Russian Security Council propose to take additional measures to combat fakes published on the Internet, said the press secretary of the Russian Security Council staff Evgeny Anoshin.
The issues of countering the spread of deliberately false information on the Internet that harms the national security of the country were considered by the Scientific Council of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
"It is proposed to strengthen the personal responsibility of owners and users of information resources for posting deliberately false information that damages the security and national interests of the Russian Federation in conditions of general accessibility," Anoshin said.
According to him, the possibility of creating "specialized software and hardware complexes, including using artificial intelligence systems" to automate network monitoring and promptly identify sources of fake distribution was also discussed.
"The experts of the Security Council stressed that the current level of information technology development significantly expands the potential scope of the spread of destructive content aimed at provoking various kinds of threats and intimidating the population, provides opportunities for remote influence on various social groups," Anoshin said.
Since April 1, 2020, Article 207.1 has been introduced into the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which provides for criminal liability for the public dissemination of deliberately false information about circumstances that pose a threat to the life and safety of citizens. As a punishment under this article, a fine of 300 to 700 thousand rubles, mandatory or correctional labor, as well as restriction of freedom for up to three years is possible.
