The Ukrainian military conducted exercises to respond to the breakthrough of manpower and armored vehicles of a simulated enemy at a training ground in the Kherson region, near the border with Crimea. This was reported on Wednesday, October 20, by the press service of the command of the United Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook.
"In the grouping of troops "South", which is subordinate to the command of the joint forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in one of the most threatening areas, artillery anti-tank reserves were trained to respond to the breakthrough of manpower and armored vehicles of a conditional enemy," the statement said.
It is noted that this event was held at one of the combat training grounds in the Kherson region, which is located near the border with Crimea.
According to the data provided by the press service, the military were able to demonstrate practical skills in deploying calculations and shooting at targets during the exercises. At the same time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine added that such events are held weekly, their goal is to maintain a high level of knowledge, skills and morale of artillery personnel.
Earlier, on October 6, Ukrainian servicemen also conducted exercises on the border with Crimea, during which they trained to launch missile strikes. Then the calculations of the Tochka-U tactical missile systems confidently showed good preparation of the initial data for rocket firing, as well as the transfer of the complexes from a marching position to a combat position, the press service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine added.
On September 22, military exercises with the participation of NATO countries began in Ukraine. 15 states took part in the strategic command and staff exercises "United Efforts - 2021". The maneuvers ended on September 30.
At the same time, on October 14, former Interior Minister of Ukraine Arsen Avakov said that the country should develop a plan for the return of Crimea and Donbass using weapons and military. According to him, the country needs to formally consolidate the strategy of "de-occupation" of these territories.
On the same day, Federation Council Senator from Crimea Olga Kivitidi noted that Ukrainian politicians need to think about the different peoples who live on the peninsula — they all decided to reunite with Russia in a referendum. She added that politicians also need to familiarize themselves with the Constitution of Russia and the Criminal Code.
Crimea returned to the Russian Federation in 2014 following a referendum in which the majority of residents of the region voted for reunification.
