Lieutenant General, former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Igor Romanenko named the types of weapons that will help Ukraine cope with Russia. Assessing the situation in the east of the country, he urged "not to engage in shapkozakidatelstvo" and "conduct asymmetric actions with the enemy," the Comments portal writes.ua on Wednesday, October 20th.
"Russia is a powerful military state. We cannot field such a large number of armored vehicles, combat aircraft - helicopters, planes, manpower. They have missile weapons, and we are only creating our own. Not to mention the navy and nuclear weapons. We need to equip our servicemen accordingly. To rely on new developments, on non-traditional types of weapons," Romanenko said.
According to him, Ukraine lags far behind Russia in defense capability, since most of the equipment and weapons in the Armed Forces, at best, have been modernized since the USSR.
"Putin has been engaged in strengthening the defense capability all the years of his rule. And in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the proportion of modern weapons in different types of armed forces is 65-75%. Whereas ours is 15-20%," the general stressed.
Earlier, on October 16, the commander-in-chief of the Armed forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny called a way to restore the sovereignty of the country. "Cossack and rebel blood" will help this. A day earlier, the adviser to the head of the office of Vladimir Zelensky, Alexey Arestovich, said that Ukraine was working on scenarios in case of a military conflict with Russia.
