Tashkent. October 16. INTERFAX - Uzbek-Afghan trade and economic cooperation, border security and transport and communication projects were discussed during talks on Saturday in Termez (an Uzbek city on the border with Afghanistan) by the delegations of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, Uzbek Foreign Ministry spokesman Yusup Kabulzhanov said.
"During the meetings, representatives of various ministries and departments discussed issues of trade and economic cooperation, border security, cooperation in the field of energy, international cargo transportation and transit," Kabulzhanov wrote in his Telegram channel.
According to him, there was also an exchange of views on the development of ties in the field of education and the humanitarian field.
"Special attention was paid to the implementation of infrastructure projects, in particular the laying of the Surkhan-Puli-Khumri power line and the construction of the Termez-Mazar-I-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar railway," Kabulzhanov said.
Following the meeting, a number of bilateral agreements were reached on the issues discussed, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added.
The delegation of Uzbekistan at the talks was headed by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov, the Afghan side was represented by Acting Deputy Head of the interim Government Abdul Salam Hanafi.
