Russia is ready to negotiate a further reduction of the START, taking into account the availability of its latest weapons. Contacts between Russia and the United States on the reduction of strategic offensive arms are developing
Moscow. October 13. INTERFAX - Russian intercontinental hypersonic weapons are already on combat duty, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
During Putin's speech at the plenary session of the Russian Energy Week forum, the presenter, when discussing issues of strategic stability, noted that Russia has developed a hypersonic precision weapon that flies at a speed of Mach 3.
"No, no, no, Mach 3 is being developed in the States, and then more. And our systems fly at a speed of over 20 Mach. It's not just a hypersonic missile, it's an intercontinental missile. This is a much more serious weapon than you just said. And they are already on combat duty in Russia," Putin said.
According to him, similar systems are being developed in other countries. "There is nothing unusual here, the high-tech armies of the world will have such systems, there will be, and in the near future. I draw your attention to the fact that we, having such systems, and for the first time in history, even surpassing our main competitors - in this case, the United States - in high-tech weapons systems, we do not abuse it, we do not threaten anyone," the head of state stressed.
"Moreover, we are ready to negotiate on the reduction of offensive weapons and, based on the interest of American partners, we are ready to bear in mind that we have such systems, and somehow take this circumstance into account in the negotiation process. There is no need to escalate anything, we need to stop talking, sit down at the negotiating table and start a substantive conversation on this matter," Putin said.
