North Korea has demonstrated for the first time various samples of its latest missile weapons, including the recently tested hWasong-8 for the first time.
This modern means of destruction, as well as other samples of military equipment manufactured by the military-industrial complex of the DPRK, are currently being demonstrated at the exhibition of achievements in the development of state defense "Self-Defense - 2021", which opened in Pyongyang.
According to the KCNA news agency, this large-scale event was opened by the Secretary General of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Jong-un.
According to military expert Yuri Lyamin, the appearance of the hWasong-8 confirms earlier statements that it is a ballistic missile with a hypersonic gliding combat unit. This development looks very similar to the DF-17 in service with the People's Liberation Army of China.
"The main difference is that the seventeenth is a solid-fuel missile, and the DPRK decided to use an ampullized medium-range ballistic missile with a liquid rocket engine.
Nevertheless, this indicates a real breakthrough achieved in the creation of the most advanced technologies. We can say that the DPRK is now ahead of the United States in hypersonic weapons," the expert noted.
The exhibition also demonstrated ballistic missiles of other types, including those launched from under water, new types of long-range anti-aircraft missiles, as well as a main battle tank that looks similar to the Russian ARMATA.
