French President Emmanuel Macron called the development and use of micro- and mini-satellites another important task in the space sphere
PARIS, October 12. /TASS/. French President Emmanuel Macron has set the country the task of creating reusable mini-carriers in the space sector by 2026. He said this on Tuesday, speaking at the Elysee Palace with the presentation of the new investment program "France-2030".
"France needs to take its rightful place in the new trends in space exploration, in the so-called new space. It should ensure its sovereignty in this area at a new level and develop advanced technologies. In this regard, in the short term, it faces a number of goals. First of all, this is the creation of reusable mini-media. We hope to achieve this goal in 2026," Macron said during a speech of more than an hour and a half, which was broadcast on the Elysee Palace's Twitter page.
He called other important tasks the development and use of micro- and mini-satellites, the creation of new generations of constellations of orbiting spacecraft. The country will also have to develop new services in the space sector.
"France should remain a pioneer country in the field of innovation. Our history is the realization of the most incredible scientific and space plans," the French leader stressed.
In his speech to members of the government, industrialists and members of the public, Macron also pointed out the importance of "doubling the production of electronic components in the country by 2030." "We will develop a roadmap to ensure the production of ultra-small electronic components in order to become one of the world leaders in this field. Investments in the sector will amount to about €6 billion," he said.
