Ukraine's hopes for membership in NATO and the EU are ephemeral, Medvedev said
Moscow. October 11. INTERFAX - The US authorities use Ukraine only for confrontation with Russia, one day this alliance will crumble to dust, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev believes.
"In Ukraine, the dependence is complete - from monetary injections into their economy (handouts from the United States and the EU) to the direct leadership of the Ukrainian special services (from their American patrons). But if the USSR needed good relations with the countries of the socialist camp and the Warsaw Pact (including for the joint "building of socialism"), then the United States needs nothing from Ukraine except confrontation with Russia, total containment of our country and the creation of what was aptly called "Anti-Russia"," Medvedev said in an article published in Kommersant.
He also noted that Ukraine is completely dependent on the United States, and its leaders are absolutely not independent. According to Medvedev, the country is under direct foreign control, which is even tougher than the interaction of the USSR with individual socialist countries.
