Moscow. October 8th. INTERFAX - There is evidence that the Taliban (an organization banned in the Russian Federation) cannot control the security situation in the north of the country, but Moscow expects that they will be able to keep their promises not to pose a threat to third countries, said Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko.
"We are closely monitoring what is happening in Afghanistan, primarily in the northern territories. There is evidence, indeed, that the Taliban are unable to control the situation. But nevertheless, we expect that the promises they made will be fulfilled," he told Interfax on Friday.
Thus, a high-ranking diplomat commented on media reports that a number of armed groups that consider themselves to be the Taliban movement are ready to invade Tajikistan.
