Brussels. October 7. INTERFAX - The decision to reduce the size of the Russian mission to NATO is not related to any specific cases, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said.
"We have revoked the accreditation of eight members of the Russian mission to NATO, who were undercover intelligence officers. This decision is not related to any specific events," he said at a press conference on Thursday.
According to him, NATO has recently recorded an increase in "malicious activity on the part of Russia," and therefore the alliance "needs to be vigilant."
"Of course, we must act when we see that members of the Russian delegation to NATO are engaged in activities that run counter to their accreditation, and therefore this accreditation has been withdrawn," he concluded.
