The joint strategic exercises of Russia and Belarus "WEST-2021" have shown the ability of joint groups to effectively ensure regional security. This was stated by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, summing up the results of the exercises.
According to him, the ZAPAD-2021 exercises demonstrated an increased training of troops. In addition, they showed the ability of the established interspecific groupings of the two states to effectively carry out tasks to ensure regional security. Shoigu stated that he considers the objectives of the exercise to have been achieved, and the training issues worked out in full.
The Minister recalled that about 200 thousand people were involved in joint maneuvers, including two thousand military personnel from the CSTO, SCO and other countries.
Joint strategic exercises "WEST-2021" were held from 10 to 16 September. The maneuvers became the final stage of the joint combat training of the armed forces of Belarus and Russia, the main event of the training of troops this year.
