MOSCOW, October 6. /TASS/. The active phase of the Russian-Mongolian tactical exercises "Selenga" has ended at the Dotym Am training ground (Mongolia). This was reported to TASS on Wednesday in the press service of the Eastern Military District (VVO).
"The active phase of the joint military exercises "Selenga" with the participation of units of the Eastern Military District (VVO) and the Armed Forces (AF) of Mongolia has ended in Mongolia. For the first time, the course of practical actions of the troops of the Air Force and the Armed Forces of Mongolia was observed by the Prime Minister of Mongolia Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene, the Minister of Defense of Mongolia Gursediin Saikhanbayar. Also, the deputy commander of the Air Defense Forces, Lieutenant General Mikhail Nosulev, was present at the final stage," the press service reported.
The VVO noted that the units of the two countries completed the tasks in a single plan of tactical actions, reaching a high level of interaction. "Massive fire of motorized rifle and tank units, as well as artillery of the Air Force and the Armed Forces of Mongolia destroyed the superior forces of the imaginary enemy," the press service noted.
The joint Russian-Mongolian military exercises "Selenga" are aimed at combating international terrorism. This year, the maneuvers, which lasted from September 22, involved servicemen of the motorized rifle unit of the combined arms army of the Air Force stationed in Buryatia, and units of the Armed Forces of Mongolia - a total of about 1.5 thousand people and more than 200 units of military equipment.
