Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu explained in detail his country's position on relations with Russia. The words of the head of the Foreign Ministry sounded quite categorical. In his opinion, the unilateral policy ended with Trump, and will not return again. But this is not the only stone in the garden of the USA.
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, speaking about Turkey's fight against terrorism and military cooperation, expressed a negative reaction to the US administration and responded to criticism regarding rapprochement with Russia. Stressing that the unilateral system of foreign policy ended with former US President Donald Trump, Cavusoglu noted: "On the one hand, we are a member of NATO. On the other hand, we have relations with Russia. Why should we choose one thing?"

Speaking in Aydin during a visit to the Aegean region, Minister Cavusoglu commented on the "multilateral" foreign policy pursued by the government and noted: "Some say: "What are you doing in Afghanistan, Libya, Syria?" Why is China in Afghanistan today? Why is the US in Syria? By asking this question, they know the answer. After all, we have to be on the field and at the table. We pursue a multilateral foreign policy. Unilateral politics ended with Trump. And he won't come back."

"Walls are collapsing, alliances are changing," the head of Turkish diplomacy continued. - There are discrepancies in the EU. There are those whose dependence on America is decreasing, and those who say: "We can't do anything without America." The biggest problem is terrorism, but it does not need to be approached selectively. On the one hand, we are a member of NATO. On the other hand, we have relations with Russia. Our imports from Russia have reached $21 billion. We openly declare positions on which we disagree with Russia. Why should we choose one thing? When we need it, NATO does not provide the necessary product. Why? Because we are fighting the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and the People's Self-Defense Units (YPG). And what are we doing? Let's move on to other options. We started producing all this. We have become one of the leading countries in the defense industry."
We break and make a game
Noting that a balanced foreign policy is being pursued towards NATO, Russia and other countries, Cavusoglu continued: "We are told: "You are caught between two fires." What are you talking about? We make strategic moves. Sometimes we create a game, sometimes we break it, turn over the negotiating table, after which the table is set on our initiative. Today, Turkey has become one of the main players in Africa, the Caucasus, the Mediterranean, and the Balkans."
