Promising weapons samples will be used in the re-equipment of formations and military units of the space forces
MOSCOW, October 4. /TASS/. About 50 research and development works on the creation of a new generation of systems and complexes for space forces in the near future are being carried out in Russia. This was reported to journalists on Monday in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
"In general, about 50 experimental design and research works are currently underway to re-equip the formations and military units of the space forces with promising weapons samples to create new generation systems and complexes in the coming years," the military department said.
The space forces of the Russian Aerospace Forces solve a wide range of tasks, including monitoring space objects and identifying threats to Russia in space and from space, providing the highest levels of management with reliable information about the detection of ballistic missile launches and missile attack warnings, launching spacecraft, managing and maintaining in the established composition and readiness for the use of military and dual-use (military and civilian) satellite systems and their launch facilities.
Every year on October 4, the Russian Space Forces celebrate their professional holiday. On this day in 1957, the beginning of the space age was laid in the USSR - the first artificial Earth satellite was successfully launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome.
