The Russian military will receive a portable anti-aircraft missile system of the new generation "METKA". As the commander-in-chief of the Ground Forces, Army General Oleg Salyukov, told the kRasnaya Zvezda newspaper, the MANPADS has a missile with a homing head resistant to all types of optical interference.
Other tactical and technical characteristics of the portable anti-aircraft missile system are not disclosed.
Note that now Russian anti-aircraft gunners are armed with MANPADS "Willow". The anti-aircraft complex is designed to destroy aircraft and helicopters, as well as cruise missiles and drones at altitudes from 10 meters to 4.5 kilometers and at a range from 500 meters to 6.5 kilometers. These indicators significantly exceed the capabilities of foreign MANPADS. For example, the American FIM-92 Stinger is capable of shooting down targets at an altitude of 180 meters to 3.8 kilometers.
In addition, the wIllow rocket is not misled by heat traps and other interference. This is achieved thanks to a special three-spectral homing head operating in the ultraviolet and two infrared ranges. In addition to missiles and launching devices, the complex includes "friend-foe" recognition tools, intelligence and control modules, and aerial target detection.
