A sociological survey conducted by the nonpartisan Eurasia Group Foundation (headquartered in New York) from August 27 to September 1 showed that most Americans would like to see more diplomatic efforts and less military involvement outside the country in US foreign policy.

At the same time, 21.6% believe that the United States should interact less with other countries, 20.1% do not hold a definite point of view on this issue.
Of 2,168 respondents, 42.3% believe that the United States should reduce the number of its troops in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, reduce its obligations to protect other countries and gradually shift responsibility for regional security to its allies. 32.2% of respondents believe that the United States should either maintain or increase its military presence abroad, according to Eadaily.
