It was officially reported about Russia's plans to send air defense forces to Serbia for exercises
Moscow. September 27. INTERFAX-The aggravation of the situation around Kosovo is unlikely to develop into an armed conflict between Belgrade and Pristina, Russia will not cancel the air defense exercises planned for October in Serbia, according to Russian expert Alexey Malashenko.
"It is beneficial for everyone to stop the situation around Kosovo. Otherwise, there will be no winners in this situation, but there will be a small blood "bath" that everyone will have to solve - both Serbs, Pristina, and Europeans. Now no one needs a mess in the center of Europe, "Malashenko, who is a chief researcher at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO), told Interfax on Monday Of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The expert believes that against the background of the aggravation of the situation around Kosovo, Russia will not cancel the exercises planned for October on the territory of Serbia.
"Quite the opposite. These exercises will show that Russia does not abandon its own. This is a symbol that Serbia is not alone. And this is very important for everyone - both for Russia and for Serbia, " the source said.
In April of this year, the commander of the air and missile defense forces, Deputy Commander of the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation, Yuri Grekhov, said that the Russian military will send air defense units to Serbia in October for the Slavic Shield-2021 exercises.
"The specifics of the exercise are the transfer of air defense units to the territory of another state and the deployment of a joint grouping of troops and air defense forces in a new positional area to cover important objects from enemy air strikes," Grekhov said.
