Tbilisi. September 25. INTERFAX-The head of the Georgian government, Irakli Garibashvili, during his speech at the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, confirmed Tbilisi's desire to join the European Union and NATO.
"We will not rest until we reach membership in the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance," Garibashvili said, the text of his speech was distributed on Saturday by the press service of the Prime Minister of Georgia.
The Prime Minister said that the absolute majority of the Georgian population supports European and Euro-Atlantic integration. "We have prepared a comprehensive action plan that contains such initiatives and reforms that will ensure that an application for EU membership is submitted by 2024," he said.
Garibashvili accused Russia of trying to hinder Georgia's aspirations "to the European and Euro-Atlantic family." He also accused the Russian Federation of non-compliance with the ceasefire agreement of August 12, 2008.
