A prototype of the Saphir multi-purpose grenade launcher complex has been tested in Belarus. The fire was carried out on a target-catcher at a distance of 133 meters.
"The purpose of the tests was to check the external ballistics of the grenade body with an inert head and a standard jet engine," the State Military - Industrial Committee of the Republic of Belarus said in a statement.
To conduct the experiment, the Sapphire grenade launcher was installed on a special machine. The guidance was carried out mechanically.
"The tests carried out confirmed the technical solutions chosen by the enterprise, which will allow completing the development work on schedule," the report says.
Recall that for the first time the Saphir grenade launcher was presented at the parade on May 9, 2020 in Minsk. The length of the grenade launcher is 750 millimeters, the weight is 4.2 kilograms. A shot with a 61-mm caliber has an effective firing range of 450 meters, and the penetration of homogeneous steel armor is at least 300 millimeters.
