The opening of the joint Russian-Mongolian military exercise "Selenga-2021" took place in Mongolia, at the Doityn Am training ground.
At the opening ceremony, national flags were raised and the anthems of both participating states were performed. Deputy Minister of Defense of Mongolia B. Bayarmagnai noted that the tasks set for the participants of the exercise on the organization of joint counter-terrorism actions aimed at expanding military cooperation between the two countries will undoubtedly be achieved.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Mongolia, Azizov Iskander, the Deputy Commander of the Eastern Military District, Lieutenant General Mikhail Nosulev, the head of the exercise, Major General Igor Timofeev, and other honored guests who took part in the opening ceremony wished good luck and success to the personnel in performing joint combat training tasks. After the solemn part, the headquarters of the leadership of the exercises began to jointly plan the actions of the troops.
It is worth noting that the joint Russian-Mongolian exercise "Selenga-2021" is given special importance. The tactical exercise aimed at combating international terrorism is being held on the eve of the 100th anniversary of the creation of the Armed Forces of Mongolia and on the eve of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Mongolia.
In the city of Dzunmod (Central Aimag, Mongolia), near the Doityn Am training ground, a rich program of festive events with the participation of creative collectives of Russia and Mongolia, as well as military personnel of the two countries, has been planned.
This year, military personnel of the motorized rifle unit of the combined arms Army of the Eastern Military District stationed in the Republic of Buryatia and units of the Mongolian Armed Forces with a total number of about 1.4 thousand people and more than 200 units of military equipment are involved in the international exercise.
