INTERFAX-Russia and Venezuela continue their planned cooperation in the military-technical sphere, Moscow fulfills its obligations under previously concluded contracts for the maintenance of equipment, Alexander Shchetinin, director of the Latin American department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, told reporters.
In June, during the visit of the Venezuelan Foreign Minister to Russia, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow and Caracas continue negotiations on the supply of new batches of weapons based on the needs of Venezuela, Russia is ready to continue to help the Latin American republic in strengthening its defense capability.
"They (Russian specialists) continue to service equipment there - this is the fulfillment of contractual obligations, it continues," Shchetinin said.
