The Lithuanian Defense Ministry recommended that citizens of the country refuse to buy smartphones from the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi, and those who have already bought them, throw away the gadgets as soon as possible.
This is reported by Reuters with reference to Deputy Defense Minister Margiris Abukevicius.
According to the military department, Xiaomi devices recognize and block the phrases "Freedom for Tibet", "Long live the independence of Taiwan" and "democratic movement". It is noted that the censorship function in the Xiaomi Mi 10T 5G model has been disabled for EU countries, but it can be launched remotely at any time.
"We recommend not to buy new Chinese phones and get rid of the already purchased ones as soon as possible," Abukevicius said.
Earlier it was reported that Rubaltic.ru The National Center for Cybersecurity under the Ministry of Defense of Lithuania (NKSC) found significant threats to cybersecurity during the inspection of 5G devices from Chinese manufacturers. In addition to Xiaomi gadgets, the military checked Huawei and OnePlus devices.
