Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov and Chairman of the Committee of Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces Mark Milley held a meeting in Finland on Wednesday, where, in particular, they discussed reducing the risks of incidents during military activities, the Russian Defense Ministry told reporters.
"During the meeting, the military leaders discussed issues of mutual interest, including reducing the risks of incidents during military activities. The meeting was constructive, " the ministry said.
The ministry clarified that the meeting took place in Finland on the territory of the residence of the Finnish government "Koningstedt" in the city of Vantaa, 40 kilometers north of the Finnish capital.
The Wall Street Journal newspaper previously wrote about the fact of the meeting, citing sources, but the details were not disclosed. At the same time, according to the publication, the meeting was held in Helsinki itself.
