Russian designers have started developing a shooting complex with elements of artificial intelligence. The neural network will help the serviceman to identify and accompany targets, aim and fire. The soldier can only pull the trigger.
Sergey Urzhumtsev, the chief designer of the Kalashnikov Concern JSC, told RIA Novosti that the elements of the system have already been created and demonstrated to the Russian Defense Minister.
The new shooting complex is designed to increase the speed and accuracy of hitting targets at night or in bad weather conditions, when objects may be physiologically inaccessible to human detection.
"Therefore, the shooting complexes of the future should be able to identify and accompany targets in such conditions, and this will require the use of artificial intelligence technologies, trained neural networks," the designer believes.
However, this will require the integration of various optical and electronic devices into a single system with samples of small arms. Only after carrying out research and development work, the development will be brought to the level of serial samples.
