New York (UN). September 21. INTERFAX-The Taliban movement (banned in Russia) should form a truly inclusive government if it wants Afghanistan to become a safe country, Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi said on Tuesday.
"In order to ensure security on its territory, Afghanistan needs an inclusive government in which all ethnic groups will be represented," he said, speaking via video link at the UN General Assembly.
Earlier this week, the Taliban completed the formation of the Afghan government. Observers note that almost all the key positions in it were occupied by prominent representatives of the Taliban movement.
Raisi also criticized the continued American military presence in Iraq and Syria. In his opinion, these troops are "the main obstacle to the establishment of democracy there and to respect the will of the peoples."
