Large-scale international exercises have begun in the Lviv region of Ukraine. The maneuvers will last until October 1. They involve about 6,000 military personnel from 15 countries. In addition to the host countries (Ukraine and the United States), the military personnel of the armies of Bulgaria, Canada, Georgia, Germany, Italy, Jordan, Lithuania, Moldova, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, Turkey and the United Kingdom are taking part in the exercises. In addition, the personnel of the Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian brigade will participate in the Rapid Trident-2021 exercises.

"These exercises are not just another stage of professional development of military personnel. This will strengthen the operational capabilities of our troops, improve interaction between the units and headquarters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the United States and NATO partners," said Brigadier General Vladislav Klochkov, First Deputy Commander of the Vostok Operational Command.
The press service of the European Command of the US Army states that the purpose of the exercises is to train American army forces in Europe, increase combat readiness and interoperability through computer modeling at the brigade level with training in maneuvers at the platoon level. The maneuvers also combine brigade-level field exercises with security and stabilization operations.
Rapid Trident exercises have been held at the Yavorovsky training ground since 2006 as part of the Partnership for Peace program of military cooperation between Ukraine and NATO.
