On Wednesday, September 15, North Korea tested a railway mobile missile system. The rocket that was launched during the tests may turn out to be a copy of the Russian Iskander missile system. This is the conclusion reached by the authors of the Ukrainian edition of Defense Express.
It is not yet known which missiles the North Korean missile system received. Judging by the published images and videos, KN-23 ballistic missiles were fired during the tests, which are considered a copy of the Russian Iskander ,Defense Express writes.
In March, the DPRK launched a new missile that hit targets in the Sea of Japan. The authors of the publication emphasize that during the past tests, the KN-23 flew 450 kilometers. In turn, during the tests on Wednesday, the missile hit a target at a distance of 800 kilometers. The authors of the publication called it likely that "not their own rocket was launched from the train, but the original Iskander".
The Korean Central Telegraph Agency (KCNA) reported that during the exercises on Wednesday, the railway missile regiment was assigned the task of maneuvering in a mountainous area and hitting a target at a distance of about 800 kilometers. The purpose of the exercises was to confirm the feasibility of using railway mobile missile systems.
