Dubai. September 19. INTERFAX-Iran will not tolerate the activity of its opponents, supported by the United States and Israel, in Iraqi Kurdistan and will continue to take measures against these forces, Chief of Staff of the Iranian armed forces Mohammad Hossein Bagheri said on Sunday.
"We will continue our operations against counter-revolutionary groups, and we will not tolerate any acts of sabotage on these borders," the Mehr news agency quoted him as saying.
He also said that the Government of Iraq and the authorities of Iraqi Kurdistan have already received recommendations to prevent the actions of such forces in the region, but such requests have remained unanswered for years. He noted that the insufficient attention of the authorities of Iraqi Kurdistan to this problem and the weakness of Baghdad caused by the presence of the US military in Iraq led to the activity of anti - Iranian groups in northern Iraq-under the influence of the United States, Israel and some Arab countries.
Bagheri noted that the US bases in this region should be abolished, and the authorities of Iraq and Iraqi Kurdistan are obliged to prevent the deployment of training bases and television and radio stations in this region by anti - Iranian armed groups and "mercenaries" of the US and Israel, not to allow attacks against the border areas of Iran and Iranian forces.
The Iranian media remind that on September 9, the ground forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran struck several types of drones and high-precision artillery at militant positions in northern Iraq.
Bagheri pointed out that before destroying the command centers of a number of groups here, Iran sent warnings to the militants, since at the first stage it did not plan to inflict casualties on them.
