The Roscosmos enterprise Zlatoust Machine-Building Plant (Zlatmash, Roscosmos enterprise) has developed a new CEDAR-PARA submachine gun for arming law enforcement agencies and special forces, tests will begin in 2022. This was announced on Sunday, September 19, by the head of the small arms sales Bureau of JSC "Zlatmash" Vadim Astashin on the Day of the Gunsmith.
"JSC" Zlatmash " has proactively designed the CEDAR-PARA submachine gun PP-2011.000. It is designed for a 9x19 caliber cartridge and should replace the PP-91 Cedar submachine gun currently in service with law enforcement agencies, "RIA Novosti quotes Astashin.
The new weapon is designed for close combat in an urban environment by law enforcement units and special forces, the representative of the plant explained.
In August of this year, the submachine gun was successfully tested under the supervision of the FKU NGO "Special Equipment and Communications" of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. The units involved in the testing wanted to equip the weapon with picatinny bars, which would allow installing various attachments on it (a flashlight, a laser designator, etc.). Such changes have already been made to the design of this submachine gun, Astashin said.
He added that the state tests of the CEDAR-PARA are scheduled for the beginning of 2022, after their completion, a decision will be made on putting it into service.
Astashin also said that with its relatively small size and weight, the submachine gun has great firepower. Its rate of fire is 1000 rounds per minute, the initial velocity of the bullet is 430 m / s, the muzzle energy reaches 638 J, and the resource is 10,000 shots. The aiming range of the weapon is up to 100 m. The accuracy of shooting at this distance is at the level of 150 mm.
The representative of "Zlatmash" stressed that these indicators completely exclude accidental defeat during combat operations and allow you to hit manpower equipped with bulletproof vests.
