Moscow. September 18. INTERFAX - A reusable single-stage rocket is being created in Russia with the participation of the developer of the new Sarmat ICBM, the first test launch of a demonstration sample of the propulsion system is scheduled for early October, the state corporation Roscosmos reported on Saturday.
The V. Makeev State Rocket Center (SRC), South Ural State University (SUSU), NIIMash enterprises and NPO Avtomatiki are participating in the project of creating a reusable rocket.
"The first test samples, models, technology demonstrators have already been created. The test launch of the demonstrator of the propulsion system is scheduled for the first days of October - then the correctness of the laid design solutions will be checked, "Roscosmos said in a statement following the results of the scientific session of the Ural interregional scientific and educational center "Advanced Production Technologies and Materials".
"Currently, the project participants (GRC, SUSU, NIIMash, NPO Avtomatiki) are conducting design and survey work to create a scientific and technical reserve by conducting theoretical research using mathematical modeling and experimental research. The results obtained are planned to be used to confirm the possibility of creating a cost - effective reusable single-stage rocket," the report says.
"Within the framework of the scientific and educational center, the project" Research, development and creation of demonstrators of a propulsion system with a central body, a control and control system with artificial intelligence of a rocket and space complex with a fully reusable single-stage launch vehicle and a universal space platform "is being carried out,"said Vladimir Degtyar, General Director and General designer of the V. Makeev GRC at the session of the Ural interregional scientific and educational center "Advanced Production Technologies and Materials".
"The participation of the GRC is expected in the research, development and creation of demonstrators of the propulsion system with a central body and the tank wall for cryogenic fuel components using composite materials for experimental research ("Demonstrator-GRC"), "Roscosmos quotes Degtyar.
According to him, design and search work on the creation of a rocket and space complex with a single-stage reusable launch vehicle for vertical take-off and landing has been carried out at the GRC on an initiative basis for several years.
"The project is really innovative and implies, in fact, a transition to the creation of a space shuttle, bypassing the stage of creating partially reusable systems in a launch vehicle," Degtyar said.
