At the same time, the terrorists have suffered serious damage, the Syrian government controls 90% of the territory, Putin notes
Moscow. September 14. INTERFAX-Russian President Vladimir Putin called the main problem of Syria the preservation of a foreign military presence there without UN permission, noting that this prevents the Syrian authorities from consolidating the country.
"The main problem, in my opinion, is that foreign armed forces are still present in certain territories of the country without a UN decision, without your sanctions, which clearly contradicts international law and makes it impossible to make maximum efforts to consolidate the country and to move along the path of its restoration at a pace that would be possible if the entire territory was controlled by a legitimate government," Putin said during a meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the Kremlin on Monday evening.
At the same time, the Russian president expressed confidence that the consolidation of political forces in Syria "will allow the country to get back on its feet and begin the progressive development" of moving forward.
