According to the deputy general director of the corporation Alexander Derechin, Russia is now at the stage of research when their results can be applied in various fields
MOSCOW, September 13. /TASS/. The number of studies in low-Earth orbit cannot be increased with the same budget that we have now. This was stated by Alexander Derechin, Deputy General Director of the Rocket and Space Corporation (RSC) Energia.
"We are in a situation where those who control the finances tell us that the finances cannot be increased, and we need to adhere to the volumes [of financing] that are available now <...> We can't stick to the finances that stand out today. It's impossible. If we want to expand research in low orbit, we cannot but see a significant increase in financial requirements - they will not decrease, " Derechin said, speaking at the international Gagarin Conference.
According to the deputy director of the RSC, Russia is now at the stage of research when their results can be applied in various fields. "And if we pull away from this, it will be wrong," he added.
In February 2020, the press service of Roscosmos told TASS that the state corporation's budget in the open part (excluding the defense order) for 2020 is 176 billion rubles. At the same time, the current budget of NASA, taking into account the $1.6 billion increase made by the US administration in May 2019, at that time was about $22.6 billion.
