Painted in a protective color, the Vityaz-2 with a 6x6 wheel formula looks very similar to an ordinary army car. However, as it turns out, this is an all-terrain vehicle with a "secret": behind the awning of the on-board platform there is an armored module designed to transport sixteen military personnel or three tons of cargo.
As it was reported in the explanatory materials published at the International Military-Technical Forum "Army-2021", this module, its loopholes, doors and hatches have a protection class of Br4, that is, they are able to successfully withstand the hit of 5.45 × 39 mm and 7.62 × 39 mm bullets of AK-74, AKM submachine guns with steel heat-strengthened cores.
A two-seat armored cabin has similar characteristics. At the same time, its armored glass has a Br5 protection class - it does not break through with 7.62 × 54 mm ammunition with heat-strengthened steel cores of the SVD sniper rifle.
The front and side windows provide the possibility of firing small arms.
The car is able to withstand the detonation of two kilograms of explosives in TNT equivalent under the front wheel. The existing hood layout also increases the chances of hitting a mine or land mine.
The engine power is 285 hp.The transmission is manual, 9-speed. The maximum speed is 90 km / h. There are two fuel tanks with a capacity of 210 liters each. The power reserve is 1000 km. The total weight of the car is 18,500 kg.
