Kiev. September 10. INTERFAX-UKRAINE - The United States is ready to participate in the Normandy format, and in the parallel process of normalizing the situation in eastern Ukraine, said US Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland.
"Regarding the negotiation format, you know that in the Obama administration, I and others participated in a format parallel to the Normandy format. Germany and France were in the Normandy format with Ukraine and Russia, and then we spoke with Moscow and Kiev in support of our goals and aspirations to try to support, close the gaps and add our share of creativity. These efforts have not progressed significantly. What we have said to Ukraine, Russia, and the Europeans is that we are ready to re-participate in any form - whether in the Normandy format or again in parallel support, if our side sees a way in which we can help," Nuland said at the YES Brainstorming conference in Kiev on Friday.
