UN, 10 Sep-RIA Novosti. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres at a meeting of the UN General Assembly called for a high-level "summit of the future"to develop a new agenda on peace and global security.
According to him, the world cannot afford to ignore the threat posed by the pandemic and rapid climate change. The Secretary General called for " starting a new era of bold transformative policies in all areas." Guterres urged to "take your head out of the sand" and be ready to face future crises in the field of health, finance, climate.
"One of the central recommendations of my report on our common agenda is that the world should come together to consider all these and other issues at the Future High-level Summit. This summit will be aimed at forming a new global consensus on what our future should be and how we can preserve it," the Secretary General stressed.
According to him, the summit should include a new agenda "for the sake of peace, which implies a more comprehensive and holistic view of global security."
