Moscow. September 10. INTERFAX-The Kremlin took with regret the words of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky about the possibility of a full-fledged war between Russia and Ukraine, said the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov.
"With regret," he told reporters, answering the question of how the Kremlin perceived Zelensky's statement.
Peskov was asked whether the Kremlin sees the danger of such a war.
"We would not like to indulge in some apocalyptic expectations," the presidential press secretary replied.
Earlier on Friday, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky admitted the possibility of a full-scale war with Russia.
"If there is a powerful escalation on the part of Russia, this is the worst thing that can happen. Unfortunately, there is such a possibility. I believe that this will be the biggest mistake of the Russian Federation, after that there will never be a neighborhood between Russia, Ukraine, Belarus," Zelensky said at the Yalta European Strategy Forum in the YES Brainstorming 2021 format in Kiev.
According to him, 2014 was the year when "Russia took a step forward towards the war, and thanks to the Ukrainians, this year became a step back (from the war)." "They were stopped," the president said.
Zelensky also said that "he does not remember the big threats from the Russian Federation in 2014 that Ukraine could join NATO." "Nevertheless, this is the choice of Ukraine, the personal geopolitical choice of every Ukrainian," he stressed.
According to Zelensky, among other things, Moscow's information policy, disrespect for Ukraine's independence, the narrative about the "Russian world" and the like have broken relations between Ukrainians and Russians.
