Military specialists have prepared more than 15 thousand targets for the final stage of the Russian-Belarusian strategic exercises "West-2021", which will be held at the Mulino training ground in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This was reported to journalists on Thursday in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
"To prepare the target situation, targets were developed for hitting targets at distances from 100 m to 20 km, for firing groups of rocket troops and artillery, tank formations, motorized rifle troops and special types of equipment. More than 15 thousand targets have been prepared for the organization of the target situation, " the district said.
The main stage of the exercises with the involvement of the coalition group of troops will be held at the Mulino training ground. The size of the training ground allows conducting interspecific and joint exercises with the use of all types of small arms, weapons of combat vehicles, artillery systems, air defense systems, aviation weapons, including operational and tactical missiles of the Iskander-M complex.
Strategic exercises of the armed forces of Russia and Belarus are held every two years. Zapad-2021 is the final stage of joint training of the armed forces of the two countries this year. Practical actions of the troops (forces) will be held from September 10 to 16 at nine training grounds located on the territory of Russia, in the Baltic Sea, as well as at five training grounds of the armed forces of Belarus.

The return of the military authorities and troops to the points of permanent deployment after participating in the exercises is planned until mid-October.
