Minsk. September 9. INTERFAX-The heads of state of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will sign an agreement on equipping collective forces with modern weapons and equipment at a meeting in Dushanbe on September 16, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said.
"We have made serious progress in terms of equipping the collective security forces of the CSTO countries, and I hope that it will be signed during the meeting of the heads of state on September 16," Borisov told reporters after a meeting of the interstate commission on military - economic cooperation of the CSTO countries.
"We have signed a number of important documents that promote integration and joint actions of our states in the field of ensuring collective security. Especially today, this situation is acute in connection with the well - known events in Central Asia," Borisov said.
According to him, the next meeting of the interstate commission on military-economic cooperation of the CSTO countries will be held in Moscow.
Earlier on Thursday, Borisov said that the CSTO countries are preparing a plan to equip the collective forces with modern weapons and equipment.
The CSTO includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan, which chairs the organization in 2021. The CSTO has a collective rapid reaction force.
