Vladivostok. September 4. INTERFAX-Russia is ready to conclude a deal with India on the licensed production of Igla-S MANPADS, the contract has been practically agreed, Dmitry Shugaev, head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) of the Russian Federation, told Interfax.
"We are continuing negotiations with the Indian side on a contract for the licensed production of Igla-S portable anti-aircraft missile systems (MANPADS). Currently, the negotiations are at the final stage, and the draft contract has been practically agreed, " Shugaev said.
"The Russian side is ready to conclude a deal," the head of the Federal Customs Service stressed.
As reported, at the end of 2018, Russia won an Indian tender for $1 billion - the Igla-S MANPADS bypassed the French Mistral complex and the Swedish RBS 70 NG.
In total, India plans to purchase 5 thousand 175 missiles, as well as launchers and other related equipment, including for installing MANPADS on light cars. At the same time, 2 thousand 315 missiles should be delivered in the assembled state, 1 thousand 260 - in the semi - assembled state, 1 thousand-in the disassembled state and another 600 missiles will be produced at the state enterprise Bharat Dynamics Ltd.
